Studies in first level high school professional study programme "Fire Safety and Fire-Fighting"
For applicants
Persons who comply with the requirements established in sections 4 and 7 of Law On the Career Course of Service of Officials with Special Service Ranks Working in Institutions of the System of the Ministry of the Interior and the Prisons Administration can be enrolled for studies in full-time day department in first level high school professional study programme "Fire Safety and Fire-Fighting".
Length of studies – 3 years.
The term for submitting documents shall be established by the Minister of Education and Science. In document about secondary education the score in school subjects shall not be less than 4 grades in score system of 10 grades or not less than 3 in score system of 5 grades; in centralized exams the score shall not be less than level E.
The following enrolment tests shall be passed:
- physical qualification;
- professional eligibility test;
- debates with Enrolment commission.
Officers of State Fire and Rescue Service with Special Service Ranks who on December 31st of the current enrolment year are not older than 42, can be enrolled for studies in part-time extramural department in first level high school professional education programme „Fire safety and Fire-fighting”, qualification to be obtained – technician of fire safety and civil protection.
Length of studies – 3,5 years.
In document about secondary education the score in school subjects shall not be less than 4 grades in score system of 10 grades or not less than 3 in score system of 5 grades; in centralized exams the score shall not be less than level E.
The enrolment studies for officers of State Fire and Rescue Service who take the position of lieutenant, first lieutenant, captain, major, lieutenant colonel or colonel shall take place within the limits of assigned budget. In case that the number of applicants exceed the established number of vacancies, the enrolment shall take place according to competition procedure described further on. The enrolment studies for officers of State Fire and Rescue Service who take the position of corporal, sergeant, senior sergeant or warrant officer shall take place according to competition procedure given the following criteria (in priority order):
- higher position in State Fire and Rescue Service;
- calculated average score of school results of certificate about general secondary education;
- if the average score matches, the decisive factor is professional experience in State Fire and Rescue Service.
Documents shall be submitted to Education coordination department of Fire Safety and Civil Protection College (room 208).
After completed study programme of Fire Safety and Civil Protection College the qualification- technician of fire safety and civil protection(fourth level professional qualification) is assigned.
The graduates of Fire Safety and Civil Protection College have the opportunity to continue studies in Riga Technical University and obtain 2nd level professional higher education, qualification – fire safety and civil protection engineer.
