Fire Safety and Civil Protection College is founded on April 1, 2002 on the basis of Fire Safety Technical School of State Fire and Rescue Service of Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Latvia.

Fire Safety and Civil Protection College (hereinafter – College) is an educational establishment subordinate to State Fire and Rescue Service. The representative, administrative and decision-making institutions of College are the College Council and College director. The Council is the collegiate administrative institution and decision-making institution of College.  Director is the superior official of College, implementing the general administrative and economical management of College and representing the College in all its affairs.

The superior administrative and decision-making institution of College in strategic, financial and economical matters is State Fire and Rescue Service.

College is an accredited educational establishment (Certificate of Accreditation No 059) with the rights to implement accredited curricula and issue certificates about higher education approved by government.

College has the following fundamental activity branches:

  1. development and implementation of first level high school professional study programme;
  2. training of students for working in fire safety, rescue and civil protection sphere;
  3. implementation of educational process fostering the development of students` personality and providing the possibility for students to obtain first level high school professional education and fourth level professional qualification;
  4. implementation of professional further education and professional improvement educational programmes.

College implements the following licensed and accredited educational  programmes:

  1. first level high school professional education programme „Fire safety and Fire-fighting”, qualification to be obtained – technician of fire safety and civil protection (fourth level professional qualification);
  2. professional further educational programme „Fire safety and fire-fighting”, qualification to be obtained – fire-fighter rescuer of fire and rescue service (third level professional qualification);
  3. professional further educational programme „ Fire safety and fire-fighting”, qualification to be obtained – dispatcher (interior affairs) (second level professional qualification);
  4. professional further educational programme „ Fire safety and fire-fighting”, qualification to be obtained – fire-fighter (second level professional qualification);
  5. professional improvement educational programme „Managerial sciences for fire-fighting” (160 lessons);
  6. professional improvement educational programme  „Basic level study programme on fire safety of objects for responsible staff” (160 lessons)
  7. professional improvement educational programme „Basic level study programme in labour protection for training of labour protection specialists and repositories” (160 lessons);
  8. professional improvement educational programme „Basic level study programme for civil protection specialists” (160 lessons);
  9. professional improvement educational programme „Organization and management of work of structural unit of State Fire and Rescue Service” (160 lessons).

College offers also to acquire study programme in Fire safety (20 lessons), approved by State Fire and Rescue Service, as well as study programme in Fire-fighting (40 lessons), coordinated with State Fire and Rescue Service and provided for staff of municipal fire and rescue services and commands of voluntary fire-fighters` formations.
